From the University of Iowa School of Library Information's WiderNet Project and the eGranary Digital Library (also known as "The Internet in a Box"), along with the United States International Council on Disabilities-- The Global Disability Rights Library provides digital teaching and educational resources to organizations and individuals in developing countries that seek to promote the rights of people with disabilities--but lack adequate Internet access.
Within the plug-in-and-play server of the eGranary LIbrary, this digital library provides lightning fast access to information in the form of video, audio, books, journals, and web sites--with installations in more than 100 educational institutions in Africa, Bangladesh, India and Haiti. Topcs include independent living, advocacy, education, transportation, public policy, employment, and vocational rehabilitation.
The goal is to function as a bridge between global information sources and millions of people with disabilities, advocates, and policy makers around the world by making it easier for them to access hundreds of thousands of educational and organizational resources on disability rights, whether or not they have access to the Internet.
