The Breathing & Sleep Symposium was a free symposium hosted by the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in 2011. More and more attention is being focused on the long-term consequences of Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB). Daytime indicators of a potential nighttime problem, such as: excessive daytime sleepiness, low energy level and lack of clarity of thought, are often early signals of a serious sleep related issue. Recent research findings suggest that Sleep Disordered Breathing is likely to be a risk factor for pulmonary hypertension and consequent cardiac involvement.
